The Water Sports Centre Development at Seafront (Phase II), Boathouse construction project was built by BPS Global for a leading university in Hong Kong to be completed in June 2020. It is the stunning location with a wavy sea surrounded by high grassy mountains for water sports.
The boathouse is a three-storey building and it contains an administrative office, a verandah, a central storage for various types of boats and equipment and other ancillary facilities.
The boathouse adjacent to the sea, a heavy windstorm may have a huge impact during Typhoon seasons. To ensure the structural safety, wind tunnel tests have been widely conducted to predict the wind-induced responses of the boathouse. In addition, we use the construction materials and glass balustrades which can resist the impact of strong winds at hurricane level or above to protect the building will not be damaged by typhoons.
The scope of contract also involves piling, utilities connection and installation works and building services, including lighting, electricity, air conditioning and lift & escalator installations. We hope the boathouse will become a new landmark on campus, providing teachers and students with a great diverse venue for water sports activities. Also, it can enhance the cooperation between universities and Hong Kong water sports organizations to promote the water sports.
